Welcome to 4th Grade and the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Linda Manzo. In fourth grade, students will continue to develop, grow and increase their knowledge through independent study and cooperative learning in all subject areas. By incorporating these models students learn how to work independently, focusing on time management as well as working cooperatively, in order to complete projects.
Reading Side By Side an ELA program that incorporates the integration of reading, study of literature, study of informational text, writing, and language. Chapter books (fiction and nonfiction) are used for reading instruction. Many comprehension strategies are used to expand meaning; including making connections, visualizing, asking questions, inferring and predicting. We will be analyzing characters, text, themes and the use of symbolism within the text. In writing, students learn to create organizational structures that support their purpose. Exposure to a variety of writing forms including personal narrative, explanatory, and persuasive writing as well as informational reports.
